Microchip PicKit and SNAP connection photos:

Microchip AC164110 RJ-11 to ICSP Adapter

The RJ-11 connector on the 81 Controller board is mirrored so that the RJ-11 connector on the Microchip PicKit3 or PicKit4 will be upright on the work surface.

The same for the Microchip SNAP, the Pickit4 has the same header connector as the SNAP

For other programmer/debuggers make sure you check the manual or instruction sheets for the pin connections to the ICSP interface. The 81 Controller manual has information on the boards  ICSP connector.
